The Communicators' League (CL) has kicked off its #CommHacks event, welcoming BA Communication students to the program at the Saint Joseph Hall (SJH) Academic Hall on July 09, 2024.
#CommHacks: Crack the Code to Communications is an annual event held by CL that aims to lend a helping hand to the students in their academic journey through the invitation of speakers, endorsing of the organization’s guild system, entertainment portions, and performances as explained by Christiana Meg Ramos, the President of CL.
The Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Alfredo Santos opened the event with his welcoming remarks. “This event marks a significant milestone in our program’s journey. Celebrating the culmination of hard work, dedication, and the relentless pursuit of knowledge of communicators and showing robust capabilities in every field and aspect.”
In the program proper, invited speakers from each year level: Iza Tinsay, Krishane Santiago, Emmanuel Manalastas, and program alumni, Sheena Khalil Yap all shared their personal experiences and provided pieces of advice about their major courses which can help students know what to expect and do throughout their college years. One of the speakers, Manalastas, stated in his portion, that character is the most important trait one should possess, stressing that excelled skills in the field won’t matter unless your character is ‘rotten.'
Meanwhile, in an exclusive interview with the Vice President of Internal Affairs, Ghiewely Gomez, she recounted their preparation and setbacks for the event.
“We started officially finalizing on June 27, 2024. Through that preparation, nahirapan kami actually kasi kulang kami ng tao. Though, napadali din siya [preparation] dahil sa guild system [of CL]. Naging mahirap lang din is very rushed [yung preparation of the event] kasi we wanted CommHacks to be the head start; to be the event that welcomes you [the communication students].” She stated.
CL is the official and sole organization of the BA Communication program. Simultaneously, they also opened their registration for membership during the event.
