With the theme “The Justice Alliance: A Call to Assemble,” the Communicators’ League (CL) launched its guild assembly at Saint Joseph Hall (SJH) Academic Hall on August 29, 2024.
According to Laurence Sagun, the Officer in Charge (OIC) and CL’s Vice President of External Affairs (OVPE), the guild assembly aims to promote camaraderie among its registered members through various performances.
The morning session highlighted the introduction of the different guilds through their yells. Meanwhile, the afternoon session resumed with each guild showcasing talents in singing, dancing, improvisation, and instrumental performances.
“It was able to show different aspects of the guilds and the personalities of the members. I enjoyed most of the program because it was basically a bonding session with the organization itself.” A second-year attendee expressed regarding the event.
In an interview with the Nexus, Sagun further discussed the challenges faced during the assembly’s preparation.
“Tatlong beses actually na-move yung event. Muntikan na hindi matuloy [yung August 29] kasi pinapa-reschedule ng faculty. But thankfully, pinush namin. Ako yung nag-spearhead na i-push talaga namin, kasi it’s really difficult to move [the assembly] much further.” Sagun stated.
The guild assembly concluded with the awarding and raffle portion at 4:50 PM, exceeding 20 minutes over the scheduled time. Which, a first-year attendee suggested better timekeeping to avoid future overtime in such events.
On the other hand, a third-year attendee commended the organizers for carrying on with the event despite facing trials throughout the preparation.
“I think that this event was a success, despite the adversities.“ A third-year attendee commented. “It was supposed to be delayed, and actually it was delayed, but nag cope lang yung officers. Feel ko super resilient yung mga officers—they're there to make something happen na kahit nagkaroon ng difficulties, they still push through to give the communication students what they deserve.”
