HAU PsychSoc spearheads Buwan ng Wika event

by Rico Tiglao | September 25, 2023

Holy Angel University Psychology Society (PsychSoc) successfully orchestrated its event, “Nagmamahal, ESPI” at the Plaza San Jose (Kapampangan Center) on September 16, 2023, following the postponement caused by Bagyong Hanna.

Hosted by Grace Cunanan and Elora Santarin, the event was divided into two parts, the morning session and the afternoon session. The program officially kicked off at 10 AM with heartfelt opening remarks from PsychSoc’s chancellor, Cheanne Delany Lapuz, as she expressed her gratitude for the presence and support of the participants and attendees.

The following series of activities titled “Laro ni ESPI” commenced which were facilitated and hosted by Stephanie Mallari and Kiel Oliver Lacson. The games were the “Tagisan sa Kantahan ng mga Kabataan,” a match about completing lyrics and guessing the titles of Filipino folk songs, as well as the "Mata sa Likod, Mata sa Harap," a game requiring wit and strategy, inspired by the classic, “Agawang Panyo.”

In between the two activities was a spoken poetry delivered by Krystine Ocampo which emphasized the art of concealing emotions while revealing them through graffiti on walls. The morning session concluded at 11:50 AM

The afternoon session resumed at 1:30 PM with the third and last activity, "Laro Tayo: Tunggalian ng Kapwa", in which students played a series of different games from “Laro ng Lahi”.

Throughout the event, PsychSoc also prepared engaging icebreakers in between segments, including a continuation of the Filipino song games during the morning session and psychology-related questions before the awarding ceremony.

The event then culminated in an awarding ceremony for the winners of the games, as well as the winners of the digital art contest, “Galit sa Guhit, Sumpong sa Sulat”.

Prof. Bianca Banog, PsychSoc’s primary mentor, gave the closing remarks wherein she expressed her appreciation for the organization’s strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to making "Nagmamahal, ESPI '' a resounding success.

“Nagmamahal, ESPI” was held to commemorate the Filipino culture and language in celebration of National Language Month and give importance to the psychology course subject, “Sikolohiyang Pilipino”. The “ESPI” from the title of the event pronounced the initials “SP” which stands for “Sikolohistang Pilipino” (Filipino Psychologists).
